What is polythene mailing bag?
mailing film is a flexible plastic film used to bundle and protect printed matter during distribution and shipping. The film is therefore also known as magazine wrap or foil for printed matter.
Mailing film is used for, among other things:
- periodicals and magazines;
- newspapers;
- folders;
- brochures;
- catalogues;
- other addressed and unaddressed printed matter.
For automated packaging processes, consistent film quality and good processability are important. The film must be able to be processed stably on the packaging line, so that downtime and material loss are kept to a minimum.
What types of mailing film can KIVO produce?
Depending on the application mailing film are manufactured to order. Options include:
- transparent or coloured film
- printed mailing film
- full-colour printing
- logo printing
- white field for name and address details
- delivery on a roll
- different thicknesses and sizes
- use of PCR recyclate where technically possible
For printed mailing film, KIVO has its own flexographic printing facilities. This allows the film to be printed with a logo, corporate identity, or other communication, for example.
Mailing film made from recycled plastic
In applications where this is technically feasible, PCR recyclate (Post-consumer recycled material) are added. PCR is plastic that has been collected after use, processed and reused as a raw material.
In addition to using recyclate, KIVO looks at possibilities to reduce material usage, for example by optimising film thickness and size. In doing so, the functionality and processability of the film remain leading. This aligns with our approach to making packaging more sustainable via Reduce, Recycle, Redesign and Renew.
Having mailing film printed
Mailing film can be printed with logos, text, colours and full-colour designs, amongst other things. A white strip for printing name and address details is also an option.
