REKS now also ISO 9001 & 14001 certified

Due to the COVID-19 situation slightly later than planned, but of course entirely in line with expectations, we are ISO 9001 & 14001 certified for our REKS recycling plant.

This was an important objective to achieve, and shows that REKS is purposeful about environmental care, and that sustainability is of great importance within the organisation.

About REKS

REKS is a recycling plant focused on sorting, separating, washing and recycling plastic waste streams from supermarket chains, retailers and distribution centres, among others.

REKS focuses mainly on recycling LDPE and LLDPE films. The production line is specially equipped to handle large quantities of stretch film as well.

By manually separating unprinted transparent LDPE films without labels, films with labels, stretch films, lightly printed films and heavily printed/coloured films, REKS is able to offer the highest possible grades of transparent LDPE and LLDPE recycled raw materials from Post Consumer Recycled content (PCR) to produce.

REKS processes waste streams from Europe and the Balkan region. Its current capacity is 10,000 tonnes per year with the aim of doubling this already by the end of 2020. Where previously these waste streams were shipped in huge quantities from Europe to Asia, or processed into lower quality (less homogeneous) regranulates within Europe, REKS now offers with this capacity an answer to the increased export problems and the rising need for high-quality plastic packaging with recycled content. The plant meets all high European requirements for e.g. water management, energy management, health and safety requirements, REACH and processing of residual waste. Processes to make the plant EuCertPlast certified are therefore under way.
