Low Density PE
Soft and flexible material with a low density

The success of Kivo Plastic Verpakkingen is based on Low
Density PE, or LDPE, the plastic material which was the basis
for the earliest films and packaging products in the 1960's. Even today,
LDPE production remains a significant part of Kivo's activities, and the
latest extrusion techniques produce perfect end products to minimum
width and thickness tolerances.
Because Kivo produces its own LDPE entirely on its own premises, from
the beginning of the process to the end (including extrusion, colouring,
primary treatment, printing, laminating and sealing), it can control the product at
every stage to guarantee the quality. The company’s production plant
and support technologies are amongst Europe’s most up-to-date and have
sufficient capacity to satisfy any size of order.
High Density PE
Hard and firm material with a high density

Kivo began manufacturing High Density
PE in the early 1980’s and was one of the first companies in
Western Europe to market HDPE on a large scale. This raw material
combines ideal molecular properties and a high density structure.
KIVO’s high density film can be up to 50% thinner than low density
film strength-for-strength.
Its combination of thinness and strength makes HDPE films particularly
suitable for conversion to rubbish bags, carrier bags, and packaging
bags for fish, meat, other fatty products, fruit and vegetables. HDPE is
a multi-functional plastic whose applications are every bit as
wide-ranging as LDPE, however HDPE products are extremely strong, have
lower vapour permeability than LDPE and are suitable for freezing.
Multi-Layer Coextrusion
A recipy for every application

Kivo has manufactured co-extruded film for many years. This multi-layer film is
being extruded by state-of-the-art machinery. Kivo succeeded in composing a
number of recipes and blends of granulate that give advantages for different
uses and applications. Especially in the potting ground market, carrier bags,
fresh produce, meat, fish and cold storage industries. The name Kivo as supplier
of coex-films is well established. Many customers successfully reduced the
thickness and consequently the costs of their film by switching over to a coex
alternative, whose properties (e.g. dart drop, barriers, tear strength), are at
least as good as the original mono-film.
It is possible to improve the ‘seal ability’ of the material, not only by
using a special mix of raw material, but also because of the fact that the
thickness is more equally divided, compared to mono-film. This makes it possible
to speed up the production of a so called form, fill and seal machine. The
coex-film can be provided with yet another mix of raw materials to achieve an
extra clear, high gloss effect, important for presentation of food, e.g. for bag
loader bags to package bread. Finally, coex-film can be used to play with the
colours of the inside and outside layers, which is needed for potting ground
film. (the typical black and white film)
