History
A Dutch family-owned company

The 1960's were really the starting point for the strong
growth in plastic packaging materials, Since then, synthetic packaging
materials have relentlessly captured more and more of the total
packaging market. It was against this background that Dick Kwakman
launched his Kivo Plastic Verpakkingen company in 1966. In the
early days, the company produced and used only LDPE (low density
polyethylene) and built a whole range of packaging materials on this
single raw material.
It wasn't long before Kivo became something of an
authority on the subject of flexible packaging materials, and in the
early 1980's, began producing and working with HDPE (high density
polyethylene). Since then, Kivo has extended its activities further into Europe with
the establishment of a network of sales offices throughout Western
Europe. Continued investment and a constant readiness to embrace change
have enabled Kivo to maintain its position as a European market.

Strategy
Combining optimum value for money

To build up a long term relationship by offering good quality at
competitive prices. This means to help and to assist in advising the
most effective PE-packaging as well as informing and implementing market
trends. Tailor-made specialist. This is translated in the wish to become
market-leader in certain defined market segments in West-Europe.
Co-operation with other parties in the market on equal basis of
partnership is a condition. For every application the ideal
raw-material-mix is defined in order to reduce thickness (and cost price)
without harming the quality of the material or the effectiveness in
machine processing.
Securing Quality level laid down in ISO-9002 certificate since 1995. In
2003 Kivo was awarded with the new ISO-9001 certification. Polyethylene
waste from our own production is regenerated and reused under our own
control. With some of our customers a waste-management return system is
put into action. With the increasing demand in HACCP in co-operation
with partners, a number of steps have alreading been taken. 21 December
2006 Kivo received the BRC-IoP certificate.
